National Car Test (NCT)

Here at Carolan Motors we want to make sure your car is safe to drive on the road and that it passes the NCT with flying colours. Our staff are highly experienced in this field and will make sure your car is to the highest standard.

It now a legal requirement to have an up to date NCT on your car.

What is the purpose of the NCT?

The NCT helps reduce road accidents and injuries so it is important to have it done. The whole idea is to ensure that all the cars on our roads are safe and roadworthy. With our pre-NCT test your car will pass. A fully regulated car runs smoothly, is safer and reduces fuel costs and emmissions. If you would like to talk to one of our staff about our pre-NCT test then give us a ring on 046 901 7184.

How can I prepare for the NCT?

There are a number of things you can do to help ensure your car passes first time around.

  • First of all – present your car clean and tidy. Showing up in a car with dirt and clutter gives off the wrong impression and can even result in the centre refusing to test your car. Empty the boot, clean out and rubbish – pop in an air freshener.

  • Remove any valuables from your car – the centre will not be responsible.

  • Remove hubcaps – where you cannot see the wheel nuts.

  • Check your oil and water.

  • Ensure that seatbelts are visible.

  • Do not forget to bring ID and your car registration to the test centre!
